PROJECT BRIEF

The Shripal Shah residence, originally built in the early 1980s, was due for a complete makeover. The family envisioned a modern yet grounded home that reflected their culture and lifestyle while retaining the essence of comfort. The brief included maximizing natural light, using sustainable materials like wood, veneer, and Italian marble, and creating warm, family-friendly spaces. Special requirements included a home theatre with futuristic lighting, a hobby/music room with acoustic treatment, and low-maintenance outdoor areas.

CHALLENGE

Outdated architectural elements like arched windows, uneven ceilings, and multiple floor levels.

Redesigning old storerooms and spaces to suit new functions.

Balancing the multi-generational family’s varied needs from grandparents to kids.

Ensuring modern luxury while keeping the home culturally rooted.

Executing the project during the Covid-19 pandemic, which posed logistical and execution challenges.

DESIGN PHILOSOPHY

Our approach was to marry tradition with modernity, designing the home around the client’s cultural values while emphasizing natural materials and timeless finishes. The interiors showcased veneer and wooden elements paired with Italian marble flooring, creating a sophisticated yet warm ambiance. Natural light was maximized through redesigned windows, while chandeliers and futuristic theatre lighting added character to the spaces. Each area was thoughtfully planned—the hobby and music room was acoustically treated and fitted with instruments like drums and keyboards to inspire creativity; the home theatre, equipped with one of the top AV brands, delivered luxury and comfort; and the living room emerged as the heart of the house, balancing elegance with functionality. The parents’ room, with its regal Rajwadi poster bed, reflected timeless charm, while smart home automation integrated technology seamlessly into daily living. Outdoors, the design extended this warmth with a green yet low-maintenance landscape. Every stage of the project was meticulously detailed with 3D renders prior to execution, enabling the client to visualize and refine each element before it came to life.

COMPLITION

The project was successfully executed in line with the family’s vision. Despite structural limitations and pandemic challenges, the residence now stands as a perfect balance of tradition, modern design, and practicality. The Shah family received a home that felt simple yet character-rich, with each room tailored to their needs.
